BBC Radio Shropshire (Genevieve Tudor) Rock n Reel ****
"FRIBO IS FOR ME ONE OF THE DISCOVERIES OF THE YEAR"
New Folk Sounds (Marius Roeting, Netherlands)
"Anne Sofie Linge Valdal's native nous and Summers' enthusiasm for the Norwegian tradition and able embracing of the hardanger fiddle have given Fribo one of the most distinctive sounds on the Scottish folk scene."
The Herald (Rob Adams)
"... Fribo's debut is full of masterly, intoxicating impressionism, a seriously rewarding and intensely original album which may well end up on my years-best list come November."
Netrhythms (David Kidman)
"... music with a refreshing tang and a keen edge."
Living Tradition
"New band Fribo showed they will be a force to be reckoned with in years to come."
Oxford Times
"There are a growing number of groups covering the sort of material which Fribo perform. But I've yet to hear anyone with the variety and finesse of this young trio ..."
Songlines ****
"Fribo are a new and exciting Edinburgh based three-piece who combine the Scandinavian and Scottish traditions with an exuberant feel for contemporary sounds and rhythms. Anne Sofie's beautiful and subtle vocals combining with Sarah-Jane's highland fiddle style are more than ably supported by Ewan's guitar and vocal nuances."
(The Tollbooth, Stirling)
"The soaring mountains and cascading waterfalls of the Norwegian fjords then flooded into the minds of the enraptured audience, as the lilting mouth-music' of Fribo's Anne-Sofie Linge Valdal accompanied the strains of the national instrument of Norway, the Hardanger fiddle - played by accomplished Scots lass, Sarah-Jane Summers - and the guitar of Ewan MacPherson."
York Press (Yorvik Viking Festival)
"Their appealing mix of songs and vibrant instrumentals offer an intriguing mixture of Nordic and Scottish music, with a dash of experimentation thrown in. The combination makes for an accomplished debut recording."
Scotsman
"What immediately strikes you is the freshness and zest emanating from the trio. And whether it's the hauntingly beautiful voice of Valdal, their up-tempo reading of Norwegian tune sets or the enthusiastic working of a set of bagpipe tunes, it's all wonderfully addictive ... another fine release from Fellside."
