What our Artists are doing currently and in the near future.
All of the original members of Pentangle (which of course includes Bert Jansch), are currently getting together and rehearsing for their first gig in more than 33 years since they disbanded.
This seminal band are to appear at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards ceremony in London on Monday 5 February 2007. Sanctuary Records, with whom Bert records nowadays, is issuing a boxed set of four CDs of Pentangle as well in March 2007. See Bert's website at http://www.bertjansch.com/ for details. Pentangle was and still is Bert Jansch, John Renbourne, Danny Thompson, Terry Cox and Jacqui McShee. (Bassist Danny Thompson, of course, played on Stoneyport's Heather Macleod's debut CD, Crossing Tides.)
Bert's had a hectic past four or five months. His latest CD, Black Swan (Sanctuary SANCD430), was released in the UK in September 2006 and immediately received enormous critical acclaim so that his career which had been heading north pretty well for the past five years or so, took yet another upward turn. Marvellous. And, then in early January 2007, Bert sold out the recently re-opened Roundhouse in London; only 1400 seats! Watch this space for news about Bert's UK touring plans for later on in 2007.
