What our Artists are doing currently and in the near future.
The McCalmans are just back from a tour of Germany and will be appearing as guests of The Kevock Choir at Edinburgh's 2200-seat Usher Hall on Saturday 12 May.
On Friday 18 May the trio will appear at Perth Theatre during Perth Festival Of The Arts and later in the month at Denmark's Jelling Festival.
Nick Keir, the middle McCalman, is a busy chap. He is also a member of The Tolkien Ensemble which, over the past few years, has played to enormous audiences across Denmark. Nick is presently recording a new solo album here in Edinburgh which includes Aaron Jones and Emily Smith amongst others as guest artistes. Recordings for the CD will also take place in the USA and in Copenhagen where Nick will be joined by members of The Tolkien Ensemble with whom he'll be appearing in five major German concerts in June 2007 - plus 50-piece orchestra, choir and hopefully the actor Christopher Lee, the Ensemble's narrator. Don't hold back now, Nick!
Feb 2007 - The McCalmans were voted Best Live Act at the Scot Trad Awards held in Fort William in December 2006. Many congratulations to them and well deserved indeed, but it didn't need a vox pop to tell us what we already knew, and had known for years!
The McCalmans and Friends gig at Celtic Connection was a sell-out and was a great night with the Macs in sparkling form together with guests / old friends Dick Gaughan, Allan Taylor, Jim Malcolm and Sangsters.
